Herb Ritz

Herb Ritts concentrated on B/W photography and portraits in the style of classical Greek sculpture and was one of the leading celebrity photographers of the 1980s and 1990s. Ritts died in 2002 at the age of 50 from complications caused by AIDS.


In his career he took photos of Elizabeth Taylor, Ronald Reagan, Madonna and Cindy Crawford and many others. He also directed many music videos like the music video for Michael Jackson’s “In the Closet” which featured supermodel Naomi Campbell.
