Photograph captures his wife's fight agains cancer till death. Beautiful, inspiring, terrifying, heartbreaking

I recently came across the work of the US photographer Angelo Merendino. This is the story who of a guy who meets a girl and falls in love. One day he gets the courage to ask her to marry him and is lucky enough that she agrees to it. But only after 5 months, luck turns around and she gets diagnosed with cancer. During the later 5 years he captures his wife's fight against it, in what ends up being a beautiful piece of work, declaration of love and a story filled with heartache.

Myself, working in advertising and trying to convey emotions and link it to product benefits and selling, often get caught up in one aspect of photography. Looking through this collection I get filled with emotions and get inspired and terrified at the same time. I realize the power of this art as a pure form of expression to help deal with something out of our control with the sole purpose of truth behind it.
