Granata Pet Snack creative use of Foursquare

Good morning,

Today I came across a very creative use of social media. The German Brand Granata Pet did a campaign in a German city where at the moment where you checked in with Foursquare they dispensed food for your pet. This is a vey intelligent way to use Foursquare, and leaves the customers happy which will result at the end in good repercussion in social media.

For the people that do not know what Foursquare is, it is a location based app that works in a manner of a game. You check in in places and get rewarded for checking in every time.

The youtube video has already 17,000 views on youtube until today. This is a lesson that you don't have to be a huge brand to use creatively the social tools that are to available to everyone!

Mysterious Guy Bourdin

His Pictures are as mysterious as Guy Bourdin and his own life. Abandoned child, suicide of his wife and bizarre stories from the models he has used for his pictures.

He tells us strange, funny little stories with each and everyone of his pictures.

He didn't want his pictures to be exposed and ordered the destruction of them after his death. Most of the promotion of his work has been through his son.

Here are some that I have found:

How much are we missing out?

This is one of the stories that I saw posted by a friend on Facebook and it made me think and feel a little bit ashamed of myself since I consider myself someone that looks for beauty in every thing but I identify as one of the untouched passers. Heres the story:

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

Grammys 2012

This morning I woke up and listened to some Whitney who passed away last night before the Grammys and then started a little recap of what I though about this event.

Rihanna looked spectacular

Adele won everything

Bruno Mars and Toni Bennet were the best dressed men for my taste. The other ones didn't leave any kind of impression.

Fashion Week Barcelona

Last week was fashion week here in Barcelona and I had a lot of fun between the shows, the parties and seeing some old friends! Now I had to take a week to recover and thats why I had not posted anything. We went HARD of course. To kick off the Fashion week we went to SHOKO to the opening party.

After that my friend Alejandra Anglada had her Fashion show on the old Moritz Factory with a performance of Moritz Valdemeyer which was pretty good with a Chun Lee type of girl kicking in the air and dancing with Light sticks. It was nice to see the hard work from Alejandra pay off in a really good show!

And after that it was a couple of days at the fair of The Brandery! Where brands like Custo Barcelona, Replay and Fetish and Fashion exposed. The best music was by Fangoria, 2manyDjs and Zombie Kids which are always nice to listen live!

To end a great week we went to the reopening of Cabaret Berlin where we partied with Boy George and danced to his and Silvia Pradas beats! The music was a lot better than usually and as it is to imagine it was PACKED! So it started to get nicer after 4 in the morning when the crowd started to leave and you could actually move.

As a last comment, not all the pictures here are mine, I got them from blogs and pages all around.
